Living Room Refresh Reveal

Today is the BIG day.
It's time to reveal our living room refresh.
I have waited patiently for this day to happen
and am so excited to be sharing it with you all today.

I haven't shown you many pictures of our living
room because I wasn't crazy about
our outdated 17 year old floral chair and couch.
Our old furniture was donated to the Habitat for Humanity Restore.
I knew eventually I would be getting a new
couch and chair but couldn't pull the trigger to
purchase anything new until I was absolutely certain
of the design and style I wanted.

I'll take you on a tour around our living room
showing areas of the room how it used to look
and how it currently looks.

Let's get started.

A view from the dining room of how it used to look.
How the same view looks now.

Hubby was quite impressed with my furniture selections.
It satisfies my taste for light, airy and comfortable,
yet provides a masculine feel with the
addition of the nailhead trim.
A close up of our new couch.
Moving around to the right of the room.
Old view.
New view.
I've already made a change which I will post later.
This next area always seemed a little bare to me with just the
Grandfather clock sitting in the corner.
Old view.
New view.
This picture shows our true wall color which is Gobi Desert by Behr.
It's the perfect neutral color for our living room.
I moved the clock and added a new accent chair,
small table and hung a couple of olive branch botanical prints
that I printed onto cardstock and
placed into these frames that I found at Michael's.
Because this corner tends to be dark I placed a
floor lamp behind the chair. The floor lamp not only provides
lighting it also helps fill in the empty space behind the chair
to create a cozy little corner.
Every morning now I sit in this little corner
to enjoy my morning coffee and check my email.
Continuing around the room.
Old view.
New view.
New view of our chair that is actually a chair and 1/2.
Lots of room in this chair to share with our grandkids.
Although we have a family room in the lower level
we do most of our t.v. watching on our main level.
At night I pull the ottoman over and turn this chair into
a lounge chair to watch t.v., which is a  very comfy spot to sit.
Moving around to the front door.
Old view after I re-painted a couple pieces of furniture.
New view.

Old view from the front door.
New view.
Old view from the dining room.
One final new view looking from the dining room.
I'm what a lot of people consider a neat freak.
I'm not offended by that, it's just the way I am.
I like to have everything in its' place, neat and tidy.
Our home usually stays clean and clutter free
but we do live in it and it does occasionally
get a little clutter laying around.

So there you have it.
With just a few re-painted and new pieces of furniture
I was able to completely transform the look of our living room.
I hope you enjoyed seeing our living room refresh.

That's it for this week.
Until Next Time,
Veronica

A Round We Go

When I was designing our new look for
our living room I knew that I wanted to
have a comfy little sitting area where
I could enjoy my morning coffee or just
be able to sit and read a good book.
I was able to find a chair that I liked
but couldn't for the life of me find a small table
that was inexpensive that I liked enough to buy.

As I was cleaning out my craft room closet one
day I came across this round wooden disc and
immediately had a vision of what I wanted for the sitting nook.
I could have Hubby build me a round table.
Now, I just had to convince Hubby of that.
I did a little research for DIY round tables and found this
free plan from Ana White.
Hubby made a few adjustments to the plan and created
the perfect size round table in about 2 hours using
the round wooden disc and construction lumber.
It measures 18" round by 24" tall.
Now it was my turn to give it the finishing touch.
With a little sanding and paint it was ready to be added
to the sitting nook area.
A perfect sized table for less than $25.00!
I love when my visions come together and don't
cost an arm and a leg to achieve.
Stay tuned.
Full living room reveal coming soon.

That's it for this week.

Until Next Time,
Veronica

Queen Anne's New Look

Our Queen Anne sofa table just got another new look.
She's had her share of bumps and bruises
over the years and needed a little refresh.
So I painted her Farmhouse white and stained her top.
Although I liked her new look, I didn't think she blended
in with the rest of the furniture in the room. She was the
only white piece of furniture in the living room and
stood out just a little too much for me.
So...
out came the paint brush again to give
Queen Anne another new look.
Ah, much better.
A few newly added accessories to dress her up.
I'm nearing the home stretch with the living room refresh.
That's it for this week.
Until Next Time,
Veronica

The End

I found a new end table.
Not that I was looking for a new end table mind you,
but I just couldn't pass it up.

I've seen similar styles in stores for $330.00.
I found it at Goodwill for $9.99!
Sure, it's a little scuffed up but nothing that a little sanding
and paint couldn't fix.
When I brought it home Hubby asked me where I was putting it.
I had no clue but knew that I would find a home for it.

It went from a $10.00 scratched up end table to a $330.00 end table.
It now sits in our living room.
Things are moving along on our living room refresh.

That's it for this week.
Until Next Time,
Veronica
