How Great Thou Art

Oh it's been a busy week to say the least.
I've been busy playing nurse.
On Thursday Hubby had surgery on his foot again.
This is his 4th surgery on this foot!
He had an accident 15 years ago and
it caused some nerve damage to his foot
which lately has been causing a lot of pain.
It was time to deal with this for the last time.

*Surgery went well and Hubby is
on his way to a LONG recovery.

Before Hubby had surgery I was busy filling Christmas orders
for my hymnal wreaths.
Here is a picture in case you missed it last year.

While I was in the process of removing pages from an old hymnal
this page literally fell out at me and landed on my lap!

This is mine and Hubby's favorite hymn!
I just knew that I had to do something with this page!

This is what I came up with.

I created my own custom framed art!

Next week I will show you how to create inexpensive DIY mats
for framing your own custom framed art work.
This is way CHEAPER than having it professionally done,
plus nobody will be able to tell the difference!

BTW have you heard Carrie Underwood sing this song?
It is AMAZING!

Well that's it for this week I'm back to nursing the Hubby.

Until Next Time,
Veronica

Collegiate Wreath

Oh My Goodness!
Can you believe that it is the start of the Football Season!
I tell you these months are just flying by.
Before we know it the snow will be flying.
I don't know about you but I'm not quite ready for that!

ANYHOO
I was asked by a male coworker if I could make a Collegiate wreath.
I have never made a sports' wreath before but I was pretty
confident that I could figure something out.
Because this was for a guy I didn't want it
to be girly looking.

I think I nailed it!
Hubby was impressed by this wreath.  Insert smiley face here!

This is what I came up with.

I think by adding the black and white
houndstooth ribbon it gave it that masculine look.
Of course the footballs helped too!

These pictures don't show how spectacular this wreath is.
This wreath measures a full 25 inches and is 11 inches deep.
Not whimpy by any means!
A very masculine wreath.
This wreath would fit perfectly into a game room / man cave.

My coworker was very pleased with it.
He will be shipping this to one lucky sport's fan!

This was one fun wreath to make.
It's always interesting to see what I will come up with.

Are you a BIG sport's fan?

That's it for this week.
I'm off to work on more home décor projects.

Until Next Time,
Veronica

Cooler Corn

What the heck is Cooler Corn?

Have you heard of it?

We had burgers and Cooler Corn for dinner last night on the back porch.

We were introduced to Cooler Corn this Spring when our
Son and DIL had their housewarming party.
Our DIL's father said that he was bringing Cooler Corn.

WHAT??

This is such a cool idea to take to a party,
or to do while camping.

We stopped by our local fruit & vegetable stand and picked up
some sweet corn and fresh picked tomatoes.

We made our Cooler Corn on the back porch,
but this could easily be made indoors.

Here's how you can make Cooler Corn.

Boil a large pot of water, or two, depending on how many
ears of corn you want to cook.

While you are waiting for the water to boil,
shuck your corn and remove the silk (hair), set aside.

Grab your cooler and give it a good cleaning inside.
You want to make sure that it is nice and clean.

Place your ears of corn on the bottom of your cooler.
Because it was just Hubby & I for dinner I only made 6 ears of corn.
You could easily cook a few dozen ears at one time if you are feeding
a large crowd.  Fill that cooler up!

I like to add a little bit of sugar to our corn.
Sprinkle the sugar on top of the corn.

Carefully pour your boiling water over your corn,
making sure that the corn is completely immersed.

Close down the lid tightly.
DO NOT OPEN THE LID FOR 30 MINUTES!
Cooking time will vary depending on how many ears of corn you are making.
We cooked our corn for 30 minutes for 6 ears and it was done perfectly.

If you are planning to take this to a family gathering,
picnic, barbeque, tailgate party, or wherever, leave
the lid closed and pull the plug on the side of the cooler
to drain the water out.  This will make it easier to
carry and transport.  Your cooler corn will stay
the perfect temperature and doneness for up to 2 hours.

Give Cooler Corn a try and I guarantee you will love
the way this cooks and tastes!

We will be cooking our corn on the cob this way from now on.

Until Next Time,
Veronica
