Dining Room Reveal

Our Dining Room Makeover actually
started back in September.
Our Son and DIL were looking for a
dining room table and hutch for their new home.
Since we only used our dining room table about 2-3 times
a year (the rest of the year it was loaded with
my craft-in-the-making projects, or used as an office),
I offered our set to them.
They could have it free of charge.
The only catch was, THEY had to move it.
We had these made by the Amish
out of solid oak.  They  are HEAVY!
Here they are all cleaned out and
ready to be moved to their new home.
I used to style the hutch.

After the table and hutch went to their new home,
we started thinking about finally removing the wallpaper from this room.
This is the before picture of the wallpaper.
We waited until we had a 3 day weekend and got to work.
What was left in the room got pushed to the center of the room.
Finally, the wallpaper was removed,
the room was prepped for painting,
and the painting had begun.

Drum roll please!

THE FINAL REVEAL

This is the view from the living room.
We turned our Dining Room into a Home Office.
This room gets flooded with natural light.
We love how this room is so open and airy now.

We removed the UGLY wallpaper,
the shelves above the windows with all the décor,
a few large pieces of furniture,
took down the blinds and replaced them with new curtains,
and the room got a fresh coat of paint.
The room color is the same as the kitchen, Canvas Tan by Behr.
It's a light white with undertones of gray and brown.
Depending on the time of day, this room can look
white, a very light tan, or a light gray.
All of these colors compliment the golden oak trim color.

Let's take a walk around the room.
This is the view looking towards the kitchen.
I love to add plants into my rooms.
They add a natural pop of color that works in any room,
plus they never go out of style.
Here's my secret to beautiful looking plants.
They're faux!
Many people have been fooled by my plants!
This is the desk area.
I took a picture of a desk that we liked to the Amish
and they custom built us a desk out of hickory.
This area is still a work in progress.
I'm looking for ways to organize and contain all the paperwork
and cords under the desk.
I have a few ideas lined up.
A plant placed in a basket to fill the empty space in the corner.

This is the view looking into the living room.
We usually leave the French doors open
to give the room a more open feeling.
A plant placed on a chair to fill the opposite corner.
The opposite side of the room.
This is the look during the day.
I had to close the curtains to try and get a decent picture.
And this is the look at night.
Very little décor was added back into the room.
I wanted to keep the room looking light, airy and less cluttered.
This clock was the only décor we added to the walls.
Have you noticed that the wall color looks different in each picture?
In this picture it looks gray.
We went from ugly wallpaper.
To light and airy.
Hubby couldn't believe how different this room looks.
I hope you enjoyed our little room reveal.
That's it for this week.
Until Next Time,
Veronica
